Pastry from France

Hello European pupils !

We are two classes who learned English together. We are happy to test recipes and today, we ate our first cookies. Excellent ! This Friday was very sunny for September, about 18°C so we decided to taste outside.

In the same time, we cooked a « quatre-quarts » = a four quarters. It’s a typical french cake and we like to eat it after school. It’s very easy : you need eggs, sugar, flour and butter. All ingredients have the same weight. It depends how many people will be on table !!

If you want to try, here is the recipe for a 10 portions cake.

  • 4 eggs
  • Flour : around 200 g
  • Butter : around 200 g
  • Sugar : around 200 g
  • Vanilla or lemon to flavour
  • Baking powder

Weight eggs without shell and the same weight for flour, butter and sugar.
Melt the butter.
In a bowl, mix eggs, flour, sugar, baking powder and add melted butter.
You can flavour with vanilla or lemon.
Butter a cake tin. Pour the preparation into the cake tin.
Put in the oven for 45 minutes at 180°C. Wait 1-2 hours for cold down.

Enjoy your meal !
